Lace up your hiking shoes and join us for our 4th annual NRV Hike for Hospice! The main event will take place a picnic shelter # 1 within the park, right on the lake shore.


The afternoon will include:

*Lunch off the grill provided by Hethwood Market Catering
Burgers, Hotdogs, Veggie Burger, sides and fixings

*Live Bluegrass music provided by the talented Eastern Divide Band 
Bring a camp chair or blanket with you to relax and enjoy the music after your hike!

Cornhole, Jumbo Jenga, Horseshoes, and more

Claytor Lake State Park will provide the fishing poles, just remember to bring your fishing license!

Including Walkabout Outfitters, Park Naturalists, Complementary Therapy (massage and music therapy), and much more!

*A “Puppy Kissing Booth” featuring Good Sam’s own licensed therapy dog, Alf, and his human Paul.

*Face Painting for the young and young at heart

*Four different group hikes to choose from at varying degrees of difficulty and lead by park rangers and naturalists

*A moment of reflection and remembrance celebration will before the hikes start





This year’s amazing outdoor adventure raffle prizes were donated by Backcountry.com and Walkabout Outfitter. Purchase your tickets for a chance to win a 12 foot, sit-in kayak that was donated by Backcountry.com. Your raffle ticket purchase with also enters you for a chance to win one of six $15 gift certificates or one of three Walkabout Camelback Water Bottles, all donated from Walkabout Outfitter.

$5.00 = 3 Tickets

HOWEVER, you can still purchase raffle tickets at the actual event! Raffle tickets will be available for purchase from the start of the event on Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm until the winner is drawn at the end of the event – 4:20pm. Just be sure to bring some cash with you to the event to get your raffle tickets!

You do not have to be present to win. The winning raffle ticket will be drawn at the end of the 4th annual NRV Hike for Hospice event at 4:20pm on Sunday, April 14th. If you are the winner and you are not present, you will receive a email with instructions on how to pickup your kayak the following Monday.

Summer is right around the corner and this Kayak would be perfect for your next floating adventure down either the New River or the James River!






From I-81, take Exit 101 (Claytor Lake) to State Park Road (State Route 660). State Park Road ends at the park’s entrance.
